Ryujehong is out of the mare Island Kitty, winner of the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks and the Grade 2 Hanamura Stakes. Island Kitty is by the stallion Ekho, four time Grade 1 winner including the G1 Kentucky Derby, the G1 Belmont Stakes, the G1 Fountain of Youth Stakes, and the G1 King's Bishop Stakes. Also two-time Grade 3 winner of the G3 Withers Stakes and the G3 Long Island Handicapp.​

Mercy is by the stallion Galileo, who is sired by Holy Roman Emperor, a seven time grade 1 winner including races such as the Grade 1 King George IV Stakes, the Grade 1 Gold Cup, and the Grade 1 Fairlwane Chase.
